My new base system setup...

Finally got the courage to put up my base antenna and home base rig. It's scary doing it during this rainy and thunderstorm heavy period... Just hoping for the best, that the photographer in heaven won't be taking any aerial photo, with a large flash, of my setup any time soon (or later)...

Thank you to a dear friend, the antenna went up and the cable was dragged into my project room. So far the setup has been working well. The setup consist of:

  • A Diamond X300 Antenna: Dual Band (2m@6.5dB & 70cm@9.0dB), double stack 5/8
  • 20m of Diamond Supergainer Series RG8 cable
  • An ICOM IC-2200H Mobile Tranceiver: Single Band, VHF, 65W max TX
  • A MeanWell 12V@12.5A switching power supply.
Antenna mounted direct to the wall with the provided bracket. Did the installation on Sunday when the hardware shops are closed thus no fancy bracket could be bought...

The antenna as viewed from the front of the house... so far no complaint from the neighbors regarding any interference... may be because most are on satellite TV already...

New option for Bluetooth on Amateur Radio Rig

Further to this blog "Alternative Bluetooth for Amateur Radio", I came across the following device on ebay. Perform the same function and much cheaper... really tempted to get it to try... anyone keen to join... would save some shipping if buying multiple units...

To see what other hams are doing with the unit, just google for "JABRA A210 Amateur Radio"

This video is highlighted by peihong... for those keen on doing this...

DIY GSM Yagi Antenna

This is another case of too many hobby but too little time...
3G reception at my house is intermittent at best so I decided to consider putting up external antenna for my mobile phone... As usual, I search the net and the following site (click the image) seems to provide most information I need... Now awaiting the cable adapter for my Sony Ericsson phone to arrive from the US...
